What it does
This extension connects a Chaster lock with a TTLock Bluetooth lock box (or another TTLock V3 lock, such as a padlock). The box is paired once from your browser. From then on it opens over Bluetooth for the keyholder at any time, and for the wearer once the Chaster lock has ended. Every action can be written to the lock history.
No TTLock account and no TTLock cloud are involved. The extension talks to the box directly and becomes its administrator.
What you need
- A lock box or lock that pairs with the TTLock app (TTLock V3 protocol). Most key safes with a keypad sold under the TTLock name work.
- A browser with Web Bluetooth: Chrome or Edge on Android, Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS. Safari does not support it — on an iPhone or iPad use the free Bluefy browser.
- The device has to be within Bluetooth range of the box, ideally a metre or two.
Adding the extension
- Create a lock in Chaster (or edit an existing one) and add the extension “Lock box”.
- On the configuration page choose:
- Wearer may open the box while locked — off by default. Leave it off if the box is meant to keep its content until the lock ends.
- Write box actions to the lock history — on by default.
- Start the lock. The box is paired afterwards, from inside the lock.
Pairing the box
Who should pair
Pairing starts with TTLock's publicly known default key. Whoever runs the pairing could, with enough technical effort, read the box's new key from the browser. If the wearer must not be able to open the box on their own, the keyholder should pair it — for example before handing the box over.
- Use a new box, or reset it first: remove it from the TTLock app, or press the reset button inside the box (see its manual).
- Open the lock in Chaster, go to the extension and press Open box controller. Chaster does not allow Bluetooth inside its page, so the controller opens in its own window. You can also copy the link and open it on the phone that is next to the box.
- Touch the keypad of the box so it wakes up.
- Press Pair box and choose the box in the browser dialog. Pairing takes a few seconds; keep the device close.
- Press Open box once to make sure everything works before you rely on it.
During pairing the box gets new admin credentials and a new random 7-digit keypad admin code. Any keypad code the box had before stops working. The box is no longer part of any TTLock app account.
Opening and locking
- Open the box controller (from the extension page, or your saved link).
- Touch the keypad so the box is awake.
- Press Open box or Lock box and pick the box in the browser dialog.
Many lock boxes lock themselves when the lid is closed and do not support locking over Bluetooth. In that case Lock box reports an error, which is expected. The battery level is updated with every action.

A lock counts as ended when its status is unlocked — also after it was archived — or when the keyholder deserted it and the wearer has recovered it in Chaster. A deserted lock that was not recovered still counts as running. In a self-lock without keyholder the wearer column applies, so the box works like a time lock.
After the lock: recovery link
Once a lock is archived, Chaster usually no longer opens the extension page. So that you still get to your box, the controller shows a personal recovery link.
- Copy it and keep it somewhere safe — a bookmark or your password manager. The device you use the controller on also remembers it; you find it again under /box.
- It opens the box only when the lock is
unlocked(archived or not) or a deserted lock was recovered. While the lock is running it does nothing — not even for the keyholder. - It stays valid for two years and cannot pair a new box.
If Chaster deletes the session
The box credentials are stored in the Chaster extension session. If that session is gone — the lock was deleted, or the extension removed from the lock — the stored credentials are gone with it and the recovery link stops working. The box can then only be opened with its keypad admin code or reset with its reset button.
Emergency access
The keypad admin code opens the box on its keypad without Bluetooth and without this service. Whoever may open the box can reveal it under Emergency and maintenance. Revealing it is written to the lock history when logging is on.
Keyholders: consider noting the code somewhere safe after pairing. It is the only way in if the service is unreachable or the Chaster session is deleted.
Reset and remove
Reset box
Restores factory settings over Bluetooth and deletes the stored credentials. The box can then be paired again, here or in the TTLock app.
Remove box
Only deletes the stored credentials, without Bluetooth. Use it after the box was reset with its reset button, or when it is lost. A box that still holds the old pairing can afterwards only be opened with its keypad code or reset by hand.
How your key is protected
- The box key and admin credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on our server before they are stored in your Chaster session. The encryption key never leaves our server; Chaster only stores ciphertext.
- Your browser only relays Bluetooth messages between the box and the server. It never receives the box key. Every step is checked against the live state of your Chaster lock.
- Opening uses a fresh challenge from the box every time, so a recorded message cannot be replayed to open it again.
- Physical access beats software: whoever reaches the reset button can re-pair the box. Mount or place the box so the button is only reachable from inside.
Limitations
- The TTLock protocol was reverse-engineered by the open-source community. This service is not affiliated with or supported by TTLock / Sciener. Models behave slightly differently — test your box before relying on it.
- Only TTLock V3 devices are supported; older generations are rejected while pairing.
- No Web Bluetooth in Safari and Firefox.
- One box per lock. To use the box with a new lock, reset or remove it in the old lock first and pair it again in the new one.
